Receipt printing over the network
VidiPOS prints over the network. The printer connects via LAN or Wi-Fi to your venue network and accepts receipts in the ESC/POS standard – common receipt printers with a network connection can do that. VidiPOS does not currently support Bluetooth printers.
In the back office you enter the name, the address on your venue network and the paper width, 58 or 80 millimetres, and assign the printer to a till. Give it a fixed IP address in your router, and the till will find it again even after a restart. For your security, VidiPOS only accepts targets on the local network.
What’s on the receipt
If a printer is assigned to the till, the app prints the receipt by itself after payment – with all mandatory details, the TSE data and the verification QR code. If the TSE has failed, it says “TSE not available” instead, as required in an outage.
Whether the printer and special characters work, you see with a test print from the app’s settings: it shows the name, address and paper width, a ruler line and the characters € ä ö ü ß.
Cash drawer
If a cash drawer is connected to the printer, you tick a box on the printer. It then opens together with the receipt on cash payments. For receipt copies and training bookings it stays closed.
Receipt copy and printer outage
If the printer is unreachable, the transaction is still completed and nothing is lost. The app reports “Printer not reachable”, shows the digital receipt’s QR code to scan and offers “Reprint”. So the guest gets their receipt either way.
From the app’s archive you print a receipt copy; it is marked as a copy. Who may print copies is set through permissions.
Kitchen and bar tickets per station
As soon as staff send an order, VidiPOS prints the ticket where it is prepared: drinks at the bar, food in the kitchen. Counter and kitchen get separate printers. If an item is cancelled, a cancellation ticket comes out there, so nobody cooks for nothing.
Which printer gets which tickets, you assign by room, table or product group. You set the station – kitchen, bar, pass or pastry – on the product group, and for each item you decide whether it appears on the ticket. Because the printers sit on the local network, tickets keep printing in offline mode too.
Kitchen and bar display coming soon
Instead of paper, a display in the kitchen or at the bar shows the open orders. The kitchen and bar display will come later as an add-on module; we’ll announce the price once it is ready.
