What counts at the bar
At the bar it is all about speed. Guests order in rounds, often for several people at once, and pay sometimes separately, sometimes together. Many drinks come in several sizes. And if the bar is open until morning, sales after midnight should still count towards the right evening.
Fast rounds of orders
Items are sorted by product group as tabs on the till, as colour or photo tiles. Whatever is ordered often, you mark as a favourite in the back office; it then appears at the top of the till. This way a round is rung up in a few taps.
- Variants such as beer 0.3 l and 0.5 l in one item
- Quick notes for common messages, one tap is enough
- Track stock: at stock 0, an item counts as sold out
- The item report suggests which items are worth making favourites
Several devices on one till
The tablet sits behind the bar, the team moves around the room with phones. Everyone takes orders on the same till and works from the same state. Everyone logs in with their PIN, and after 15 minutes of inactivity the login ends by itself. If an area settles up separately, for example a second bar, it gets its own till.
Business day after midnight
When the business day rolls over, you set for each till, for example 5 am if you are open until 4 am. Transactions before that time count towards the previous day. This way the whole night ends up in one closing.
At the Z report you count the cash by notes and coins, and the till compares the total with the expected amount. You can close as soon as no transaction of the day is still open; otherwise the till names table, operator and start.
Tips and card payments
Staff choose the tip when paying in the app. If none is chosen there, the card reader can offer the guest three percentages. For each till you decide whether the tip belongs to the staff or the business; the X and Z reports show it split by operator and payment method.
For card payments you pair a SumUp Solo or a Stripe Smart Reader. The Solo connects to the SumUp cloud via Wi-Fi or mobile network, not via Bluetooth to the tablet. Staff tap “Card”, the amount appears on the reader, and the payment lands on the receipt without retyping.
The right plan: VidiPOS Bar
VidiPOS Bar is made for bars without a menu sequence: everything as in VidiPOS Gastro, just without courses. The plan costs €55 net plus VAT per till and month, with three devices included; each additional one costs €19.90 net a month. On top come €199 net per till and year for cloud TSE, fiscal compliance & digital receipt.
If you also serve food in courses, VidiPOS Gastro fits. You can move up to a higher plan at any time; a smaller plan applies from the next term. Your data is kept. All prices are on the pricing page.
